Wouldn't it be great if you could:
- Improve your vehicle's fuel efficiency by 3.3%?
- Get nine more cents worth of value from each gallon of gas you buy?
- Decrease your chances of causing a fatal accident while driving?
You can, just by maintaining the proper air pressure in your tires.
The team that conducted the 2010 Rubber Manufacturers Association Tire Pressure Survey measured the tire pressure in more than 6,300 vehicles in 31 U.S. cities, and their findings were startling.
In the state of California:
- Nearly 60% of the vehicles checked had at least one under-inflated tire.
- 17% of vehicles had at least one tire under-inflated by 8 pounds or more per square inch.
- Only 13% of vehicles had four properly inflated tires.
All of the under-inflated tires on America's roads waste 1.2 billion gallons of gasoline each year. More importantly, the premature tire failures and decreased handling that result from low tire pressure contribute to 600 fatalities and 33,000 injuries annually.
At Mountain View Tire, we're working to improve these numbers two ways:
- When you pull into any Mountain View Tire location we'll check the pressure in all your tires and, if necessary, fill them up, free of charge. No appointment necessary.
- We can also fill your tires with nitrogen. Because nitrogen molecules are larger, they take 3 to 4 times longer to pass through your tires, so your tires stay properly inflated much longer. Learn how nitrogen can lengthen the service life of your tires too.
To maximize fuel economy, service life, performance, and safe operation, check your tire pressure at least once a month. Questions? Stop into any Mountain View Tire location.
