NHRA Pro Stock drag racing is a highly competitive sport, one in which thousandths of a second often determine who wins and who goes home. It’s also a sport of experienced veteran drivers and teams. That’s what makes Vincent Nobile’s rookie season as the driver for Mountain View Racing even more astounding.
Vincent won his third Pro Stock race of the 2011 season earlier today, defeating teammate Allen Johnson at the NHRA Nationals in Chandler, Arizona by 0.0025 of a second. He drove the Mountain View Racing Dodge Avenger to a holeshot win with a quarter-mile time of 6.678 seconds and a top speed of 208.30 miles per hour. (The term “holeshot” means that Vincent’s faster reaction time off the starting line was enough to overcome Johnson’s faster elapsed time.)
Earlier this year - at age 19 - Vincent became the youngest driver in Pro Stock history to claim victory when he defeated Roger Brogdon at the O’Reilly Auto Parts Spring Nationals in Houston, Texas. Win number two came at the expense of Larry Morgan at the Summit Racing Equipment Nationals in Norwalk, Ohio. And now, victory number three! WOW!
Our thanks to NAPA Auto Parts and all our other sponsors, our great crew and their families and, of course, Vincent Nobile and his family. Keep watching NHRA drag racing action at the track or on ESPN 2.
