The Mountain View Racing team has entered a new era.
Owner Nick Mitsos announced in mid-November that, after 11 years, the team will no longer race in the NHRA’s Pro Stock class. Instead, they’ll focus their efforts in the School of Automotive Machinists and Technology (SAM Tech) Factory Stock Showdown, one of the fastest-growing categories of drag racing.
SAM Tech features supercharged 170-mph factory-built race cars from Chevy, Ford and Dodge.
Mountain View Racing crew member Ryan Priddy will take the wheel as the new driver. The team’s Pro Stock car had been driven by Vincent Nobile since 2011.
“I’d like to thank, first and foremost, the Nobile family,” said Mitsos. “It has been a pleasure to race with Vincent and his parents, John and Sue, for the last eight seasons. We shared many laughs, hugs, tears [and] celebrations together.”
Mitsos described the Mountain View Racing team’s Pro Stock run as “challenging and often frustrating, but ultimately very rewarding.”
“We were able to win 13 races and earn eight straight top-ten finishes against the toughest competition drag racing has to offer. We also made friendships and memories that will last forever. I felt the time was right to try something new and the Factory Stock Showdown seems like a perfect fit.”
